Lessons from God's Creation

The fingerprints of God are seen all throughout His created universe. In the book of Job it says, “But now ask the beasts, and they will teach you; and the birds of the air, and they will tell you; or speak to the earth, and it will teach you; and the fish of the sea will explain to you.” (Job 12:7-8)

Not only did God create each creature with intricate detail, but He also created each creature with characteristics from which we can glean and learn. God teaches us valuable lessons through His creation. What better way to learn determination than by observing the tenacity of the salmon as he battles powerful currents and tries to evade hungry grizzly bears during his long journey home? Or study the ant and note his industrious lifestyle. “Go to the ant, you sluggard! Consider her ways and be wise.” (Proverbs 6:6). Do we work hard to lay up treasures in heaven? (Matthew 6:19-21) Or observe the meerkat’s loyalty to family and community. Or ponder the carefree confidence (trust) of the ravens. “Consider the ravens, for they neither sow nor reap, which have neither storehouse nor barn; and God feeds them. Of how much more value are you than the birds?” (Luke 12:24) How amazing is He who provided us with live demonstrations of noble character traits through His Creation?!

So let’s take the time to SERIOUSLY study the handiwork of the Creator and declare, “Let’s be industrious like the ants! Let’s be as family-oriented as the meerkats! Let’s be as steadfast as a salmon! Let’s completely trust God like the raven does!”
