The Sandia Descent Adventure

In “Jonathan Park and Descent from Sandia Peak,” the Creation Response Team climbs up through the different “life zones” of Sandia Peak. Now it’s your turn to learn about the different animals that God designed to live in these zones.

Purpose

To visit the animals at a local zoo, and learn about the biomes in which they live.

Planning

  • Set a date with your family to go to a local zoo. If you need help finding one, you may want to check http://www.zoos-worldwide.de (Vision Forum in no way endorse\s all of the information found on this site).
  • Call ahead to confirm the Zoo’s hours and admittance fees.
  • Read up on the different biomes and be ready to answer your family’s questions. We suggest printing out descriptions of each biome to take with you to the zoo. For more information about biomes, you may choose to visit http://www.nceas.ucsb.edu (Vision Forum in no way endorses all of the information found on this site).
  • Pack a picnic lunch.

Activity

  1. Take your family to the local zoo.
  2. As you travel from animal to animal, make a game out of your visit. As a family, identify the biome in which each animal is designed to live. Discuss the special adaptations that the Creator made in each one so they can live in their particular biome.
  3. Stop at lunchtime for a picnic lunch. After lunch, take time for a devotional before you head back out to the animals. For a devotional, - click here.

* You can purchase the CDs or cassettes from the Jonathan Park Web store. If you own the study guide, you may also spend time learning the scientific discoveries that support this adventure. Those study guides can also be downloaded free.
