In “Jonathan Park and the Midnight Prowler,” the Park and Brenan families and their friends are training to become the Creation Response Team. Now it’s your turn. Live the adventure as your family heads into the wilderness to prepare for your own mission!

Purpose

A family camping trip in which you will plan and train for your mission to share the message of the Creator with others.

Planning

  • This adventure includes an overnight camping trip - so it will require a weekend - or at least an overnight stay, although you may choose to go for longer.
  • Make reservations at one of your favorite campgrounds.
  • Let your family know that you are planning an exciting “training camp” for them.
  • Spend time thinking through the spiritual goals that you would like to see your family accomplish over the next year. You may want to gather planning sheets, or other material that your family will use in “training” for their mission. Things to consider:
    • What mission has the Lord called our family to?
      • Is it reaching our neighbors?
      • Ministering to family and friends?
      • Becoming stronger members of our fellowship of believers?
      • Sharing the Creation message with those around us?
      • Supporting missionaries?
    • What are our specialties as a family? What talents do we see among our family members? Is there a way to incorporate those into our family’s outreach?
    • Does our family have a mission statement?
    • What goals do we want to accomplish this next year?
    • Are there timelines involved in our goals?
    • What role will each family member play in the overall plan?
  • Before leaving for your trip, make sure to include all of the items you need for your family training session along with all of your camping gear.

Activity

  1. Listen to Jonathan Park and the Midnight Prowler* (possibly on your way to the campground).
  2. During the course of your camping trip, make sure to spend fun times hiking, fishing, or anything your family enjoys doing together. Make sure to also spend time praying, and in the Scriptures. Have as many “training meetings” as needed to work through your family goals and a specific plan for a year of family outreach. These meetings could include:
    • Designing a family mission statement.
    • Laying out family goals for this upcoming year.
    • Brainstorming about possible outreach ideas.
    • Identifying family talents and abilities.
    • Anything relevant to “training” as a family.
  3. In the morning, you may choose to use the devotion that we’ve designed to accompany Jonathan Park and the Midnight Prowler
  4. End your camping trip by celebrating all that the Lord has done.

* You can purchase the CDs or cassettes from the Jonathan Park Web store. If you own the study guide, you may also spend time learning the scientific discoveries that support this adventure. Those study guides can also be downloaded free.
